Maria Koshenkova

Maria Koshenkova's work reflects both of her culturel backgrounds : Russio, where she grew up and Scandinavia, where she has been shaped as an artist.

The main material she uses for her artistic practice is glass. Associated with various materials such as wood, wax, or ceramic, she's headed for new concepts and slowly creates a strange but fascinating universe.

Maria Koshenkova's new artistic research is a reflection based on the local history of the place of creation as well as on its specific context : past, present and future. She interprets ready made objects loan of an intense emotional charge by reinventing and offering them new stories. She bases her work on subtle and almost invisible transformation, revealing poetry and nostalgia. Pieces play with time. According to these confusions, Maria Koshenkova's work became an unstable border between death and revival.

She establishes a concrete but fragile equilibrium between the real and the abstract object. Ready made objects are transformed by the designer's artistic act of re-sculpting them into unfamiliar structures which show both parallel realities : the lost past and the real.
