Czech Cubism was an art movement of Czech proponents of Cubism, active mostly in Prague from 1912 to 1914. Czech Cubists believed that objects carried their own inner energy which could only be released by splitting the horizontal and vertical surfaces that restrain design and “ignore the needs of the human soul.” “The most beautiful case is crystallisation: here the blending force (the crystallising force) is so much more powerful compared to mass that - it may almost be said - the mass of matter has no influence on crystallisation.” Pavel Janak 1912
“Am I a mirror of creativity who accepts the chaos of matter refracted in the crystal so as to imbue objects with shape?” Otokar Fischer, Na brehu jezera (On the Lakeside) 1911
